İmplant
An implant is an artificial tooth root made of titanium that is placed in the jawbone to replace the missing tooth in case of missing teeth. Dental implants are used to provide a stable foundation for dental prosthetics or bridges and often help individuals experiencing tooth loss regain their natural appearance and function. Implant treatment is performed through a surgical procedure and then restorative dental treatments such as crowns, bridges or prosthesis are applied. Dental implants, which are a long-lasting and reliable solution, can provide successful results for years with proper care and regular check-ups.
How is implant treatment applied?
The examination determines whether the patient is suitable for implant treatment. A treatment plan is prepared for people who have sufficient jawbone and have completed bone development. Within the scope of this treatment plan, the number of implants to be placed in the jawbone is determined. After the implants are placed in the jawbone at the right angle, they are expected to fuse with the jawbone.
How long does implant treatment take?
The implants are placed in the jawbone and then the implants are expected to fuse with the jawbone for approximately 2-3 months. Then prosthetic teeth are placed and the treatment is completed.
What should the patient pay attention to after implant treatment?
Applying ice compresses for the first 24 hours will prevent both pain and swelling. Drinking painkillers before the anesthesia effect wears off will make the process more comfortable. It is normal to have bleeding in the form of leakage for the first 24 – 48 hours, otherwise you may need to consult a doctor.
It is recommended that you take the prescribed medication according to the time and dosage. Soft foods should be consumed as much as possible and care should be taken not to eat hard foods. It is recommended that you do not consume extremely hot or cold food. It is appropriate to remove your stitches after one week.
What is jaw bone powder (graft)?
A jaw bone graft is a treatment to increase the amount of bone in a part of the jaw where bone has been lost or where additional support is needed.
In which cases are jaw bone powders used?
Bone grafts can be used in cases where there is insufficient bone in the area where implants will be made, in cases where implantation is desired in the same session as tooth extraction, in sinus floor elevation operations before implantation, or during the extraction of teeth that cause chronic inflammation and cause bone resorption in the mouth for a long time.
