A composite inlay or onlay is a custom made restoration for a back tooth, used in the same situation as the porcelain version: when a tooth has too much damage for a simple filling but does not yet need a full crown. As with porcelain, an inlay fits into the space between the cusps on the biting surface, an onlay also covers one or more cusps, and the restoration is made outside the mouth and then bonded to the tooth, rather than being shaped directly in place like an ordinary filling. The main difference here is the material. This restoration is made from composite resin rather than ceramic. Composite tends to be more economical than porcelain and is generally easier to adjust or repair in the mouth if needed, which can be an advantage. The trade off is that composite is usually not as hard wearing as porcelain and may not hold its colour or surface quite as well over the long term. Neither material is simply better; the right choice depends on the tooth, the biting forces it has to handle, how much it shows when you smile, and your own priorities. What sets this option apart is that it is made from composite resin instead of ceramic. Composite is generally more economical than porcelain, and it is usually easier to adjust or repair in the mouth if that is ever needed, which some people find reassuring. The trade off is that composite is typically not as hard wearing as porcelain and may not keep its colour and surface finish quite as well over many years of chewing. Neither material is simply better than the other. The right choice depends on which tooth it is, how much biting force it has to take, how visible it is in your smile and what matters most to you. Empress / E-max Kuron (Full Porselen), içinde metal alt yapı bulunmayan, tamamen seramikten üretilen bir kuron türüdür. E-max (lityum disilikat) ve Empress gibi cam seramikler, doğal diş minesine benzer biçimde ışığı geçirip yansıttığı için özellikle ön dişlerde çok doğal bir görünüm sağlar. Metal destekli kuronlarda zamanla görülebilen diş eti kenarındaki gri çizgi bu kuronlarda oluşmaz. Yüksek estetik beklenen tek diş kuronları ve kaplamalar için uygundur; çok üyeli köprü gibi yüksek kuvvet gereken bazı durumlarda ise farklı malzemeler tercih edilebilir. Diş yapınıza uygunluk hekiminiz tarafından değerlendirilir.
Zirkonyum kuron, zirkonyum oksitten üretilen, metal içermeyen dayanıklı bir diş kaplaması. Zarar görmüş, renklenmiş ya da şekli bozulmuş dişin görünümünü ve işlevini geri verir. Zirkonya çekirdek yüksek kırılma direnci sağlarken, üzerine uygulanan porselen tabakalar doğal dişin ışık geçirgenliğini ve canlılığını taklit ederek estetik bir görünüm verir. Bu yapı, hem sağlamlık hem de estetik gerektiren durumlarda; arka dişlerde, köprülerde ve görünür bölgelerde tercih edilebilir. Tabakalamalı zirkonya, monolitik (tek parça) zirkonyaya göre daha doğal görünebilir; tek parça zirkonya ise daha yüksek kuvvete dayanıklıdır. Diş yapınıza ve ihtiyacınıza uygunluk hekiminiz tarafından değerlendirilir.
Metal Destekli Porselen Kuron (MDP), metal bir alt yapının üzerine porselenin işlendiği, uzun yıllardır kullanılan klasik bir kuron türüdür. İçteki metal iskelet sağlamlık ve dayanıklılık sağlar; dış yüzeydeki porselen ise diş rengine uygun bir görünüm verir. Sağlam yapısı sayesinde arka dişlerde ve köprülerde güvenle kullanılabilir, tam seramik seçeneklere göre genellikle daha ekonomiktir. Öte yandan içteki metal ışığı geçirmediği için görünüm, E-max ya da zirkonya gibi metal içermeyen kuronlar kadar saydam olmayabilir; zamanla, özellikle diş eti çekilirse, diş eti kenarında ince bir gri çizgi belirebilir. Diş yapınıza ve beklentilerinize uygunluk hekiminiz tarafından değerlendirilir.
